Colorado Symphony – Dvorak

20110331-084056.jpg

I took myself Friday night to see the Colorado Symphony perform Dvorak’s New World. This is a new performance called Inside The Score. So the first half had narration, two actors, a large video screen, and even some old recordings while small pieces of the symphony were played. It was very helpful to have this background information, and explanation on Dvorak’s intentions.

After an intemission the entire Symphony was preformed as originally written.

It really was a fun night & I enjoyed learning something new. I purchased my ticket through Groupon and received a great rate. The Symphony was able to reach out to over 4,000 new people with the deep discount. I’m sure they will receive some new patrons and maybe even donors they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to reach. I love when technology can provide a win-win for everyone involved.

I’m going back in May for another performance and am really looking forward to it.

Update: I’m even considering buying a 2011-2012 Season pass to Inside The Score.

Working on Recipe Blog

So I’ve spent the better part of today working on a Recipe Blog.   I’ll share the link with you as soon as it’s a bit further along.  But I just have to say a quick I LOVE WordPress!  It’s making this project so quick and easy.

Broncos vs Texans Game

Broncos after win
I had the pleasure of attending the Denver Broncos versus Houston Texans game yesterday. Here’s the fun part the Broncos actually won! Their 4-11 record this season has been painful for all of us loyal fans.

Seeing Tim Tebow start at home for the first time was a delight. You can see Tebow’s passion for the game, which really rallies the players and the fans. I can’t wait to see what this young QB brings to the league.

Kyle Orton statistically is a very good QB. But at the end of the day they haven’t been winning games. I know Tebow, or any one player for that matter, can’t change the team by themselves, but man was it fun to have a win! A big Thanks to my Mom for inviting me to go, and to Larry Schmueser for giving us his Club Level seats for the game. Go Broncos!!

New York From the Sky

This is a picture off of my iPhone of New York City as taken during my Helicopter ride. Its a view of Central Park and surroundings. I can’t wait to get some better shots off of my Digital Camera. Will post those later.

Chicago The Musical

I had the pleasure last night to attend Chicago The Musical on Broadway. I figured if I was in Manhattan for work anyways I might as well take in a Broadway show. The show was certainly very good with amazing singing and great dancing. And who can go wrong with some handsome shirtless men! :)

Maybe I should have known better, but I was surprised that there were no costume changes. Being an ex high school band geek it was certainly fun to see the Orchestra in the center of the stage. Again though I was surprised that there were no sets. The Ambassador Theatre also felt a bit old. The seats have certainly had many, many patrons in them over the years.

Overall it was a very fun experience and the performers were certainly very good.  I think I have a new goal of always taking in a Broadway play each time I’m in NYC.  So far I’m 2 for 2!
