How to open multiple savings accounts at ING Direct

This probably should have been obvious to me before, but I guess I never thought about it. With my trip to Rome I have been saving up money, and want to earn as much interest possible, so I’ve put it all in my ING Direct savings account. Problem is it has been hard to tell how much I have for my trip since I have other savings and my car payment is pulled from this account monthly.

Today I stumbled across a few articles that talked about “sub accounts” in ING Direct. The advice was to set up an account for unexpected expenses, or multiple accounts for your particular goals. Once you are logged into your existing account, all you have to do is open a new account and fund it.

I know several of my family and friends use ING Direct as well, so if you like this idea here is a link to a helpful tutorial: http://cashmoneylife.com/open-ing-direct-sub-account/

Let the savings begin!

Royal Wedding

My three-day weekend has begun, and I have to say I’ve been quite excited about the Royal Wedding. My TiVo is full of episodes about the wedding, the Queen, and the Royal Family. I’ve watched most of the shows twice already.

There is just something about the pageantry that I find fun. It will be really exciting to see what Kate’s dress looks like, especially after so much speculation.

I’ve got the wedding and pre-shows set to record. I’m going to bed now & we’ll see how early I can wake up. 3:00am is quite early for me, so we’ll see.

Countdown to Rome

I am so excited that I’ll be going to Rome in 195 days! I get to take my Mom with me, and since she is my best friend, I know we are going to have a ton of fun. We depart Denver on a Tuesday night and after a 9 hour flight to London, and then a very brief layover, we will be in Rome by Wednesday late afternoon. We spend 4 nights in Rome, and then on Sunday we board a 14 night transatlantic cruise on Royal Caribbean to Fort Lauderdale, FL.

While in Rome I certainly want to do some sightseeing, but my big goal is to observe the culture and eat as much authentic Italian food as possible in 5 days. We plan on staying in an 18 room Hotel that is run by a family, and has some amazing reviews online. Plus they have a professional website, which you know I take note of. ;-)

The hotel is in the Via Veneto district. Which from what I’ve read is a pretty trendy area and has had a lot of revitalization in the past years. It’s not too far from the Spanish Steps, But to get to the other classic museums and landmarks we will need to either take public transit or a taxi.

There are so many things that excite me about this trip, but are also very new. For instance, I’ve never been out of North America, I’ve never been on a cruise, and the 9 hour flight to London is about twice as long as my prior longest flight. I’ve also never been on a formal vacation for longer than about a week and a half, and this will be nearly three weeks.

I’ve been doing tons of reading and have also started a wish list of items I’d like to buy or take on the trip. (such as power adapter/converter). But I’m sure there is still so much to learn, and a lot that I won’t understand until I experience it firsthand.

If you have any tips for traveling to Rome, or just abroad I’d love to hear them!

My iPad is on its way… finally!

Finally I’ll have my iPad 2 in a matter of a few days. Yes I was one of those crazy people who went and stood in line on March 11th. Due to work being crazy busy that day and me not leaving for two hours after I planned, they sold out about 30 people in front of me. So that night I went and placed on online order with Apple.

Here’s the cool thing about online ordering, you can get free engraving. So naturally with my love of WordPress I decided to engrave “CODE IS POETRY”. It’s for personal use, and I don’t think this saying is trademarked, so hopefully everyone is cool with me “borrowing” it.

My engraved 64GB AT&T 3G iPad was shipped from China late last night & Fedex says it’ll be delivered on the 5th. I can’t wait for it to arrive. The accessories I ordered are lonely as they arrived a couple weeks ago.

Here’s to hoping the shipping ferries can be a day early! :-)

The Kings Speech = Amazing

I’ve been wanting to see The Kings Speech for awhile, but hadn’t managed to take myself to the movies lately. After watching the Oscars this weekend I knew I had to go see it. So tonight I did, and it did not disappoint. What an all around amazing movie with top notch acting!

It really seemed as though everyone involved with the project tried extra hard to honor the memory of the King. Maybe it’s due to the upcoming Royal Wedding but I’ve been on a kick lately learning about Queen Elizabeth and the Royal family. I have to say they must have been honored by this movie.

I can not fathom how Colin Firth mastered that stammer. He must have practiced for months or even years. There were so many heartfelt moments, but also many times I laughed. I was truly entertained, felt connected to the characters, and I learned a bit about the challenges those with stammering face. What more can you ask of from a movie?

My advice is go see it now! Let me know what you think of it.

A point of note is that the movie does have an R rating. The only reason for this is due to a cussing spree while trying to overcome the stammering. There are only a few outbursts. Language aside there was nothing else offensive in the movie.

***Update: I just did a quick search and learned that the movie is set to be altered and re-released at a PG13 rating. They are apparently cutting the occurrences of a famous 4 letter word from 5 down to 2. I think this new rating is very inline with the movie.

Just realized I still need to share the link to my recipe blog with you. It’s www.lindysrecipes.com. More dessert recipes will be uploaded soon.
