I came home to discover that out of the four eggs only the one little guy hatched. I was really hoping they’d all hatch. For some reason the parents have left the unhatched eggs in the nest. I researched it and most everything I found said the parents remove the unviable eggs. It’s been about 10 days since this guy hatched so I’m sure nothing is going to happen with the other eggs. Seems bizarre.

The parents have both been around the nest a lot and they’ve been feeding him. I sure hope this baby gets to live a long, happy life. I’ll be interested to see when it leaves the nest, but am excited to be back and observe the family in the meantime.
